Jail & Prison Ministry

Central’s Jail And Prison Ministry reaches out to those incarcerated with a message of hope found in Jesus Christ. Our staff and volunteers teach God's Word, and share testimonies, music and worship.

Inmates can continue to learn about life in Christ by participating in a Bible correspondence course offered by this ministry. The Jail and Prison Ministry also trains believers who want to help during these outreaches.

Jail Outreach

Central Church goes into the jails in Mecklenburg, Union and York counties on a weekly basis. Multiple opportunities are available immediately for volunteers who feel called to minister in Bible study and discipleship in our local jail system. Click on the "Volunteer" tab above for more information.

Discipleship Outreach

Once an inmate has accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior they need guidance to learn to live in the new life God has given them. With God's leading, the Central Church Jail and Prison Ministry has developed The Basic Bible Study Series. Each of the 10 study guides includes a question and answer sheet for the inmate/student to complete and mail back to us along with prayer requests. Once the basic series is completed each student will receive a personalized certificate of achievement along with the first study guide in The Word Bible Study Series. This second Bible series includes 32 additional study guides that cover both the Old and New Testaments. God is using these unique Bible studies, along with Central's personal touch, to make a real difference in the Christian growth of these inmate/students.

Not comfortable going into the prisons or jails? You can help disciple inmates through the mail in our Prison Ministry Discipleship Center at the Charlotte Central Church Campus. Volunteers receive and log in student information and answer sheets, send out the next study guide in the series along with a note of encouragement, and most importantly pray for each inmate/student and their families.
